The first two regions (Cascade and Belknap) don’t have much going on. That’s when the real story begins, and character relationships begin forming.
If you’re interested in this game, I suggest playing it through until you reach the Lost Lake Camp. When the outbreak happens and the whole world turns to hell, underneath we’re all just people trying to survive. It’s the old adage: “don’t judge a book by it’s cover”. It’s part of surviving during these times. His gruff exterior hide genuine care & concern for people.

Deacon is uneasy when receiving recognition and praise, and doesn’t know how to react. He exhibits vulnerability when it comes to discussing sensitive matters related to his Sarah. He helps his friends and supports the people of his camp survive this outbreak in many ways. Then as you play the game, Deacon will have some opportunities to shape his character, and to test his moral lines. See her familiar face below (around 6 years ago 2013), as she sings a lovely song during the end credits: If you’ve played Bioshock Infinite, they you were already charmed by her performance as Elizabeth. Sarah Whitaker is voiced by Courtnee Draper. For me, things really started to turn around during the flashback sequences with his love Sarah. This game is a hard sell for sure, but you have room to be pleasantly surprised if you stick with it. Days Gone Walkthrough // The Turning Point Add in the main character’s comical name, the backwards hat he rarely takes off (even at his own wedding), and you’ve got a lot of barriers to overcome in order to engage the audience. This biker culture is just so far out there, I’m not sure what angle they were trying to go for. This guy is not gonna make any favorable impressions for a job interview. His friend ‘Boozer’, is equally unrelatable to me - probably more so with his head completely covered in tattoos. We learn later on that he was in the military, which is why his tracking and combat skills are above any standard human. He’s part of a biker gang gruff and hard-boiled. The game didn’t do too much to turn me off, so I still gave it a chance and finally completed it. I had certain expectations about Sony’s 1st-party games, and what I was seeing from Days Gone was pretty mediocre. Initially, I wasn’t going to commit my time and energy to doing a Days Gone Walkthrough. Days Gone Walkthrough // Initial Impressions Life’s too short to waste anyone’s time with a poor walkthrough that doesn’t hold up over time. The entire walkthrough had to be completed and released on a regular schedule. I also didn’t want to release a video one day, and then a few days later release the next one. I edit out all the fluff and have sufficient knowledge & skill of the gameplay mechanics. There’s just no way to rush this and keep this standard of quality. Some people just can’t wait, and they might lose the hype about the game and not care anymore. The heartbreak on their faces as they are forced to separate from each other. The game has plenty of side content, such as bounty hunting missions, NERO checkpoints and Research Sites, Hordes to clear, etc. This is just for the main quest missions only. The total run time of all 45 videos is 17 hours. It is an edited walkthrough, except the first part. In total, the Days Gone Walkthrough is comprised of 45 parts (“episodes”). To find my walkthroughs, Google/Youtube search for: “ xcv walkthrough ” I really had to play through it extensively to understand which missions were pivotal and which could be discarded. If you wanted to 100% complete all the content, it would take you well over 30 hours.
